Elf Night is the 23rd of December, and it is celebrated by chidren around the world.
This story explains how, and why Elf Night came about. Elf night is when Santa's elves come visit homes looking for notes and obstacles. Such as dogs, burgalar alarms, and lack of fireplaces. If the home is Santa ready and the child's room is neat and clean, they advance (like Saint Nicholas Night in Europe) a small present or two into the child's shoes, or socks.
This introduces to the child that are more than one Santa figure in the the world. It explains that Santas are created and sustained by the child's belief.
This story helps create a new memorable family Christmas tradition.

This is a great story and a favorite in our family. We purchased it for our daughter when she was a baby and have read it to her every year since then. She's four now and begs for the Elf Night story every night at bedtime during the holidays. And she can't wait to share it with her class at pre-school. Children may not see all the layers to it (at least not at first), but it has great messages embedded within the story. Because our daughter was born overseas, we particularly like that the story addresses the idea of "Santa Claus" in other countries and cultures. As a Mom, I love the fact that the story provides my children with incentives to keep their rooms tidy during the holiday season. And leave it to a former member of the Army to embed the idea of reconnaissance within the broader story of Santa's visit! A wonderful story to curl up and read as a family.Product details
